Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness

Today is a very special day set aside for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. I myself have not lost a pregnancy (only had a preemie) but I know or have known several people who have had a miscarriage. It breaks my heart to hear of anyone losing a pregnancy.

According to a 2004 National Vital Statistics Report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2000, 15.6% or 1,003,000 of the 6,401,000 pregnancies in the United States ended in either a miscarriage or stillbirth; the CDC also indicates that in 2003 the number of live births in the United States was 4,093,000; of those births, 27,500 ended in the death of an infant under the age of one.

Gymnastics

Well we decided to take Audree to her first gymnastics class on Tuesday night. They start them as young as 18 months so I thought hey we have 2 months on them haha!

We walked in around 5:15 and Audree was looking at all the kids and everything around. She kept saying momma play, and I'd tell her in just a minute baby. 5:30 rolled around and off we went into the gym. Its a mommy and me class so I got to join her! There was about 3 little girls and 1 little boy in the class. While they stretched Audree wasn't so sure about it, but I helped her do it and she seemed a little better.

The gym has a little area for the kids so that is where we started. Needless to say Audree didn't like much of it re: trampoline, forward rolls, bars, etc. I was very nervous at this point. It was 5 minutes into the class and she refused to do anything. Brett was watching from inside the waiting room and kept waving to her (sooooo cute). The next stop was the balance beams and Audree did EXCELLENT! She started to really warm up at this point and was a pro!! She walked one foot in front of the other just like she was supposed to! She did a little beam, then got brave and did a big girl beam!!

After beam we did a little floor exercise! They would walk on a floor beam, then jump on a mushroom thing (audree liked to dance on it haha), then they would crawl or walk through this circle mat and do a forward roll down the incline. Audree would laugh and just run holding my hand, it was so adorable!! After floor they went to the BIG trampoline. They would jump all the way down it and then jump into a pit of "cheese" (foam blocks). Audree would jump in and just lay there and close her eyes and then giggle haha. My dad and Brett's mom came to watch her and she thought she was hot stuff once she saw them. She kept turning around and waving to them!

Class was over at 6:30, and they got stamps on their hands, which Audree thought was very very NEAT! We walked into the waiting room to get daddy, grammy and pop pop and she kept saying momma play, open door. Poor thing, she wanted to go back in there so bad!

We haven't fully decided if we are ready to enroll her yet, she by far is the youngest one in the class, but she had so much fun! I was worn out by the time the class was over!! It was good exercise for me ( i had to chase her around and help her do everything).

Here are 2 pics I snapped with my phone. I didn't have time to take more:

12 Weeks (im early on the post)

Well only 2 more weeks until I begin my 2nd trimester, ahhhh I can't believe I just said typed that! The weeks are just flying by and I am really shocked at how fast its going. I know it will eventually slow down and Ill be typing WILL IT EVER BE THE END?!?! haha

Right now I have been feeling WONDERFUL and AWESOME! I had someone tell me that I am "glowing" and that I am rocking the baby bump today! Let me just tell you I had a smile that went from ear to ear! You see I busted out my maternity jeans and a ls maternity shirt today! The maternity shirt is like a regular long sleeve shirt, but its a stretchy kind so I say it accentuates the bump haha.

We listen to the baby as a family every night and I always get the biggest smile on my face! I could lay there all day and just listen to the little thump thump thump! I noticed something different this week while listening. While searching for the heartbeat, I would hear some crazy noises, the heartbeat would come then VANISH, then come back then VANISH all in between those weird noises. Anyone want to guess what the noises are? DING DING DING its the baby moving!! This little booger must just think my uterus is a playground haha! It moves all over the place, which I think is the most amazing thing EVER! With Audree she never really moved, so I am very excited about this. I really honestly think I have felt a flutter, but I just can't get a good feel to be 100% for sure. It is still really early to feel it (felt Audree flutter @ 15 weeks), but there is definitely something going on in that region!

Audree is still giving the baby hugs and kisses and says la loo (love you) everyday. I think she is going to be a protective big sister! She grabs the heart doppler and asks to phone the baby. She has to hold the speaker and when we hear the baby's heartbeat she says yay!! She is just so adorable!

How your baby's growing:

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. ---I THINK I HAVE A FELT A FLUTTER BUT I CAN'T REALLY TELL!!!--His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

How your life's changing:

Your uterus has grown to the point where your healthcare provider can now feel the top of it (the fundus) low in your abdomen, just above your pubic bone. You may already be into maternity clothes, especially if this isn't your first pregnancy. If you're still fairly small and not yet ready for maternity clothes, you've no doubt noticed that your waist is thickening and that you're more comfortable in loose, less restrictive clothing. You may begin to feel heartburn (also called acid indigestion), a burning sensation that often extends from the bottom of your breastbone to your lower throat. Many women get heartburn for the first time during pregnancy, and those who've previously had bouts of heartburn may find that it gets worse. During pregnancy, the placenta produces a lot of the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach. Particularly when you're lying down, gastric acid can seep back up the pipe, which causes the uncomfortable burning sensation. For many women the problem doesn't begin (or get worse) until later in pregnancy, when your growing uterus starts to push up on your stomach. The discomfort may range from mildly annoying to intense and distracting.

Our Weekend "Get Away"

Okay so we didn't go anywhere far BUT we did have a "mini vacation" My cousins and my uncle were celebrating their bday's this weekend so we decided we would make a weekend trip out of it.

Friday after work, we headed to Round Rock to have some family fun! Audree did so well on the way there, I think she pointed out every cow she saw haha. She would be real quiet, then you would hear look cow! We got into Round Rock around 7:30 and headed straight to Austin's Park & Pizza! If you've never been here, I suggest you try it out! It has tons of arcade games (like peter pipers or chuckee cheese), batting cages, golf karts, tea cup rides, lazer tag, mini golf, and much more! Of course all we did was eat pizza and play games, because Audree was too small for the rest. Audree had a BLAST and we had so much fun watching her! She was running from game to game just laughing her head off! We left there around 9:30 and headed back to our hotel. We had a suite (thanks to priceline.come!!!) and Audree just thought that was sooo neat! She would run from the bedroom to the living room just giggling. We FINALLY got to her to go to bed around 10:30 (WAAAAAAAAAAAAY late for miss thing)! I was ready to hit the sack, my back was hurting and I was so tired!!

Saturday morning little missy woke us up around 7, we tried to get her to back night night but she was not having it. So we laid in bed and talked and laughed and finally got up to go get some breakfast! We had the "free hot continental breakfast" so we were expecting the food to not be so great, however we were SHOCKED! They had eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, fruit, potatoes, etc! All I could get down was a little bit of yogurt because I was queasy but Brett & Audree went to town! After breakfast I made Audree lay back down and take a nap because we had a FULL day ahead of us. We got to my aunt and uncle's around 11:30 and the fun began! Of course I had to antagonize my uncle because well he turned the BIG 5-0!! I mean really a half of a century is a pretty big deal right? Audree played with her cousins, laney (delaney) and tolten (Colton) and she had so much fun! We had cake, ice cream, presents and all sorts of fun!

I didn't want to head back to "Wacko" but knew we had too :o( We packed up our things and left around 5:30. The rain driving back was HORRIBLE! There was one point in time where Bret & I couldn't see a thing, kind of freaked me out a little!! BUT we made it home safe & sound!!

Sunday we didn' t do a THING! I woke up feeling icky and had a sore throat so I slept pretty much all day. I did manage to decorate for halloween (ill do a post later on the decor) and Audree ♥ them!

Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!!

Week 11

How your baby's growing:

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden. She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

How your life's changing:

If you're like most women, you're feeling a bit more energetic now and your nausea may be starting to wane. Unfortunately, you may also be suffering from constipation (caused by hormonal changes, which can slow digestion) and heartburn (hormones again, relaxing the valve between your stomach and esophagus). Just remember, all this discomfort is for a good cause.Don't worry if nausea has made it impossible for you to eat a wide variety of healthy foods or if you haven't put on much weight yet (most women gain just 2 to 5 pounds during the first trimester). Your appetite will likely return soon, and you'll start to gain about a pound a week.

11 Week checkup (well almost)

Today was our appt, its ALREADY been 5 whole weeks since our very first one! Time has DEFINTLEY gone by super duper fast!

Today's appointment was a BIG one! Yeppers, we got to hear the heartbeat. I know I know, we have a doppler at home and we have already listened to the baby, but let me tell you something, this little booger is HARD to catch! HAHA We will hear it, after trying FOREVER, and BAM its gone haha I guess its having fun just swimming errrrrr floating around in there haha

Anywho Dr K found the heartbeat, after searching for a little bit, and it was fast, strong and loud! Of course I was just super excited! Dr K said that the baby sounded wonderful and I looked great! Well I guess he has to say that haha. According to the Dr's scale I had lost 4 pounds, but Ive also eaten and it was late in the day, when I weighed this morning at work it was -6. He wasn't concerned just said to keep eating what I can, when I can. I told him Ive been craving salads, and he said thats great! The less fatty food the less it might help to not trigger my gallstones.

You see with Audree I developed gall stones and OH EM GEE they hurt SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD! I would seriously have to compare it to the pain of my c-section. After I had Audree they went away (the pains and attacks) so I never went and got them taken out. I have a risk of getting them again since I had them with Audree. I DO NOT want these again, so I will take every measure to not get them! I'm just not digging red meat, or really any meat for that matter so Im trying to eat healthier.

Well thats all the news for now! Ill have our 11 week belly picture and news up probably Sunday or Monday! We will be out of town this weekend for my cousins bday party!!
